Description

The Incontinent Void Book Description: If the most interesting theoretical interventions today arise not from within certain fields, but from the cracks between these fields, which do not clearly belong to a certain field, one of the most remarkable theorists must be Slavoj Žižek. The ideas developed by Žižek in this book, which can neither hold its breath nor hold its breath, do just such a job: It fills the gaps between philosophy, psychoanalysis and the criticism of political economy. Žižek focuses on the inherent transitions from ontology to gender, and from gender to the criticism of political economy: “The crossed-out One constitutes While it is possible to reach the ontological Gap only through the impasses of gender, the possibility of the abolition of sexuality, that is, the change of 'human nature' itself, which emerged with the techno-scientific progress in global capitalism and is still before us, forces us to shift our focus to the critique of political economy.” Alenka Zupancic's book, What Is Sexuality? Based on the dialogue he established with his book, Žižek approaches the limit of ontology through an excess element that embodies radical negativity, the antagonism of gender difference as it is engraved in the order of existence. From an economic-philosophical perspective, this ontological surplus extends first to Marx's surplus value, and then to Lacan's concept of surplus enjoyment. This is a strange book. It reminds us of the paradox we encounter in Spinoza's Ethics: On the one hand, it focuses on "eternal" issues such as the fundamental structure of existence, and on the other hand, it engages in many very specific discussions on current issues, with examples ranging from the Pokémon Go game to the popular television series Castle.
