Yusuf Akçura gave his speech on October 19, 1914, and it was published as a book the same year. Yusuf Akçur was arrested by the British at the end of 1919 and after about a year of captivity, he went to Anatolia and participated in the War of Independence. He took over Istanbul from the invaders on behalf of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Yusuf Akçura, a Tatar Turk, served as the president of the Turkish Historical Society from 1932 until his death. The author passed away in 1935. (From the Promotional Bulletin)
